2020 strikes again.
On Halloween of this year, we lost Sean Connery, and Sunday before last (Nov. 8, 2020), we lost Alex Trebek. Unlike the majority of the celebrities I write tributes for, I honestly can’t remember when I was introduced to these men because they were constants throughout my life.
It wasn’t until Sean Connery passed that I realized I’d only watched a few of his films, and the same goes for Mr. Trebek. I didn’t watch Jeopardy! every day, but I tuned in to more episodes than I can count over the course of the last 35 years. I still remember the evenings my late grandmother and I would watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! back to back, and I’ve had enough of those evenings as a child—as well as an adult—to know there’s no Jeopardy! without Alex Trebek.

Even though I didn’t agree with his stance on putting his hands on women, I loved Sean Connery’s immense talent for acting. I have yet to see Sir Sean’s iconic interpretation of James Bond (don’t @ me), but I was a big fan of his legendary role as Henry Jones, Sr. aka Indiana Jones’s dad in The Last Crusade. I also loved him in movies such as Entrapment, First Knight, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (that cameo was epic), The Untouchables and Rising Sun. To be honest, I may not have watched Mr. Connery’s James Bond films simply for the mere fact that I preferred older Sean Connery to younger Sean Connery, as most people did.

With that being said, this tribute will be a bit different than my others. Instead of just talking about these gentlemen, I’m going to post some clips from them that I’ve enjoyed over the years. I hope y’all enjoy them, too.
