If 2024 isn’t a year for the ages, I don’t know what is.

I was currently working on my tribute post for Ms. Shannen Doherty (coming soon), when I heard the news, thanks to Lovelyti…President Joe Biden will no longer be a candidate in the upcoming 2024 election and is officially handing his bid to Vice President Kamala Harris.

Now, I know what I said about both Presidents Biden and Trump in my previous post about the failed Trump assassination.  I didn’t care for either candidate, and I meant what I said.  I didn’t get much out of the Biden Administration—I’m sorry, but I didn’t—and I never cared for the Trump Administration, either.  Nonetheless, this news comes as a shock.  I know that many people—namely left leaning celebrities—were calling for President Biden to drop out of the race in recent weeks, but I never thought he’d actually do it.  I mean hell, we’re only three and half months away from the actual election!  I figured it’d be too late for him to drop out!  I guess I was wrong.

So what does this mean?  Will VP Harris be able to cinch the election?  Who knows.  A lot of folks don’t see her winning this thing, seeing as Sen. Hillary Clinton lost to Donald Trump back in 2016.  Also—and I know this for a fact—the person that’s running for office has to be a strong candidate.  I remember when John Kerry ran against former President George W. Bush in 2004.  Kerry didn’t have much of a campaign.  I don’t recall any exciting speeches he gave, appearances he made, or any type of impact he made during the presidential debates.  I just remember him going up against George Bush…and losing.

On the flip side, I remember President Barack Obama running against Senator John McCain in 2008.  First, President Obama blew everyone away four years prior during the 2004 Democratic Convention, and went even harder during his candidacy speech for the 2008 election.  I remember his hilarious appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (unfortunately I couldn’t find any clips from that particular episode), and how calm, cool, and collected he was during each presidential debate.  President Obama won by a landslide (I’ve never seen a presidential victory that fast before or since then).  If Kamala Harris has any hope against Donald Trump, she better start making an impact…a serious impact.  And let’s not forget, she doesn’t have a whole lot of time to make her presence known.

One thing I can say…this last minute decision makes things a whole lot more interesting…even though we’re the laughingstock of the world at this point.
