Oopsie! MGM Officially Denies That Bruno Mars Accrued Any Gambling Debt!

What’s goin’ on, y’all?  As I’m sure you already know, I reported a story just a few days ago about how Bruno Mars allegedly got himself into a $50M debt with MGM Resorts.  Now MGM has released an official statement, announcing that Bruno never had any debt with the casino.

The story was printed by Forbes, Variety, Entertainment Tonight, and People, and according to these sources, MGM’s Senior VP of Public Relations, Jenn Michaels, is quoted as saying, “[Bruno] has no debt with MGM,” and that “Bruno’s partnership is longstanding and rooted in mutual respect.”  She goes on to say that any “speculation otherwise is completely false.”

My question is this…what’s really going on?  Did some dude or chick just make up Bruno’s alleged debt for attention?  Is the debt real and MGM is just doing damage control?  Does the truth lie somewhere in the middle? There’s some folks—and when I say “folks,” I mean commenters on Twitter and YouTube—speculating that Bruno really does have a debt, it just may not be as large as initially reported. Others state that MGM would never even allow a debt to be that large. Who knows? All I know is that Mr. Robert Littal of Black Sports Online wasn’t buying it from jump street.

He also addressed the Bruno/Andy “beef,” and I had to give my two cents about that.

Y’all know me; I still love Bruno and wish him well. I’m not gonna lie…I really do hope that this was just one big lie for attention and Bruno’s not up to his waist in gambling debts.  If these were falsehoods that someone spread just to spread them, then shame on them.  If Bruno really does owe MGM—or some other casino in Vegas—a chunk of money, I hope he pays his debt and cuts his card playing down to a minimum. I’ll still love Bruno regardless.

After all this, I’m looking forward to some good news about Bruno down the line…like the next album (I’ll take another Silk Sonic project, too!)!

So what do you think of this new development about Bruno?  Do you believe MGM or do you believe the unnamed “Vegas Insider”?  Do you think believe the truth lies somewhere in the middle?  Let me know in the comments section!
